Our Eight-Step Lawn Care Program
Greenkeeper has a tried and true lawn care program that consists of the following steps:
- Early Season At the very beginning of the year, even before early spring, Greenkeeper will come out to treat your lawn with pre-emergent weed control for crabgrass and broadleaf weeds.
- Early Spring After your turf has been prepped, we actually incorporate another round of the same pre-emergent weed control for crabgrass and broadleaf weeds. This is to ensure as much protection as possible to prevent weeds as early as we can.
- Spring Our spring treatment is centered around fertilizer. During this time, we apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to aid in green-up and turf density.
- Early Summer When the weather starts to get hotter, the Greenkeeper team will treat with another balanced, slow-release fertilizer to encourage root growth and turf density for optimal root and soil health.
- Summer When that well-known summer heatwave is in full effect, your lawn will need a boost. This is when we come in with a third balanced, slow-release fertilizer to enhance color and overall turf health.
- Late Summer/Early Fall This is the time to prep for the upcoming cool-season. Right around August or September, we will apply a pre-emergent weed control for poa annua and balanced fertilizer.
- Fall Weeds don’t only pop up in the summer and spring, cool-season weeds are an issue as well. Pre-emergent weed control for onions, henbit, and other winter weeds should take care of this.
- Winter This is when fertilizer will need some help and lime will be applied to increase the PH which maximizes fertilizer effectiveness.
